Bardo: Psycho-Somatic Constellating
in the Liminal Space
About the workshop
This gathering is a laboratory of inquiry into our humanness, our sensations, emotions, and the way consciousness unfolds in the present moment.
An intimate gathering of 6-12 people, guided into presence with ourselves and each other. First we explore our own inner states, acknowledging what is alive in our bodies. Then, we bring that into the group field and observe what happens. Sometimes there is crying, laughing, yelling, singing, dancing, shaking. Often we experience deep processes and the chance to hold each other with loving presence.
“Psycho-Somatic Constellating.” What does it mean?
“Psycho” - referring to the psychological used in the process. Techniques from Gestalt therapy and Internal Family Systems (Richard Schwartz) are used. We acknowledge traumas, deeply stored emotions, and emphasize authentic connection with ourselves and others in the space.
“Somatic” - referring to the connection between the body and the mind. Traumas and emotions are often held in the layers of our fascia. We can discover physical sensations in our body to help us feel and release trapped patterns of the subconscious.
“Constellating” - referring to the group dynamics that unfold in this space. Whether we are aware of it or not, our presence plays a role in the experience of other people sharing the space. During an intimate gathering like this, we use the technology of a shared circle to represent different roles for each other.
Ex: Maybe someone is portraying beautiful maternal energy in the space, while another person is opening a wound related to their own mother. Here, we can heal these wounds using the unique constellation that arises in the space.
“Bardo” - /ˈbärˌdō/ noun
The space between; where transformation unfolds. In Tibetan Buddhism, Bardo refers to the liminal state between death and rebirth, a threshold of dissolution and becoming.
